Filmmakers explore inner city pornography, gangs, and drugs in these two films. SOUTH BRONX HEROES, features two children who escape from their foster home with evidence that it is pornography ring headquarters. They enlist the aid of an unconventional lawman (Mario Van Peebles) to capture the porno king and his accomplices. In THE BLACK GODFATHER, an African American gang leader attempts to dry up the supply of heroin controlled by a white hoodlum after his best friend is killed in a mugging.

Television director/actor Clark Johnson makes an impressive feature-film debut with S.W.A.T. Inspired by the 1970s show of the same name, S.W.A.T. is set in modern day Los Angeles. Recently demoted officer Jim Street (Colin Farrell) gets a chance to redeem himself when aging veteran Hondo (Samuel L. Jackson) is put in control of a new team. Joining Jim are Deke Kay (LL Cool J), Michael Boxer (Brian Van Holt), T.J. McCabe (Josh Charles), and Chris Sanchez (Michelle Rodriguez), all outcasts in their own right. But after an intense training period, the team is ready to hit the streets. Their first big assignment involves one of the world's most dangerous criminals, Alex Montel (Olivier Martinez), who makes an on-camera declaration that he'll give $100 million to whoever breaks him out of jail. Pretty soon, everyone's trying to get a piece of the action, including Jim's former partner, Brian Gamble (Jeremy Renner), who uses his own S.W.A.T. team experience to plot the escape of a lifetime. It's up to Hondo and Jim to outsmart the bad guys and make sure that Alex is safely transported to a federal penitentiary. In this sequel to DAREDEVIL, the Marvel Comic series is drawn upon once again to present the mysterious and powerful character of Elektra (Jennifer Garner), a professional assassin with special skills. Clad in a red suit, she relies on her mental acuity, which allows her to see a short distance into the future. With this talent she can stalk her victims and kill them before they are even aware of her presence. She is cold and introspective to a fault, shunning all human contact in favor of meditating on her powers. Even so, she is haunted by the memories of her youth, when as a small girl she witnessed her mother's brutal murder by a mysterious horned enemy. When a mission leads her to a father and daughter, Mark (Goran Visnjic) and Abby (Kirsten Prout), something deep inside her causes her to abort the assassination. But before she knows it, a team of the highly dangerous ninja experts called the Hand are sent to take out Mark and Abby themselves. The leader of the Hand, Kirigi (Will Yun Lee), has a greater objective in mind for Mark and Abby, and Elektra decides to defend the helpless twosome until she solves the mystery behind why the Hand wants them dead.
Highlights of the film center on Elektra's impressive moves in her red-hot suit, flinging her Sai weapons with menacing accuracy. Plentiful action scenes and special effects certainly add some high-intrigue moments to the plot, but there is also a softer side to ELEKTRA, which is about mothers and daughters. Elektra frequently flashes back to her mother's death and her memories of youth, while in present time she is forming a bond with young Abby, providing for some tender moments.
