A hard-headed cop (Alec Baldwin, in his first screen appearance) is caught in a deadly cat-and-mouse chase involving big bucks and a beautiful girl, fixed in the gunsight of her pursuing killers. Hannah Schygulla plays the beautiful novelist who becomes involved in a New York City underworld mystery, and becomes the target for nefarious criminals and low-lifes.
