Featuring a bevy of up-an-coming young talent, and set in a posh California suburb, THE HILLZ has all the trappings of a successful teen drama; this is tempered by a darkly comic, surreal tone. Steve 5 (Jesse Woodrow, CHASING THE DRAGON) is a first-year college student on course to become a professional baseball player; he returns home for summer break to find his neighborhood and old friends drastically different. His best friend Duff (Rene Heger, MTV's UNDRESSED) has become the sadistic leader of a gang of kids who take what they want, when they want it; drugs, money, and sex, are now in abundant supply, but the neighborhood is overrun with crime and ultra-violence.
